Every comment the club makes on the issue of potential new owners includes reference to the need for any buyer to 'get' the sense of community which is so special to NCFC supporters and the people of Norfolk. The message is clear - you've got to be in it for the long haul and have the club's best interests at heart.
What a shame his prerequisite for investing in the club does not filter down to the manager's transfer policies. How can supporters feel the traditional sense of loyalty and attachment so revered by the Board to a team of hand-me-downs and here today, gone tomorrow loan players? How can we be expected to feel the same passion for a squad which now - incredibly - contains no fewer than four borrowed strikers? Not only does such a situation make it difficult to build a successful and consistent side, it undermines the very fundamentals of what it means to be a football fan.
I've no problem with the players Roeder has brought in - although quite why we have got Troy Archibald Henvlle on the payroll if he can't get in the team when we're missing four central defenders, I don't know. Man for man, City look a decent side, but the Championship table often bares little resemblance to what clubs have the best players and more to who has the better TEAMS. You can't build a team and be a successful with a group of people will be gone next month, in a couple of months or a couple of months after that.
