It isn't similar, because

if Eagle turned out to have a good year, we'd extend his contract and get the benefit. We'd be investing in our own future.

With Troy, the only beneficiaries of any progress he makes here will be Spurs.

Of course managers make mistakes. All I'm really saying is that from now on, every day he spends here, and every penny we spend on him, is pointless.

I take it you agree he should go back to Spurs straight away?
