Why not wait and see if he does play today.

And if he plays, see if he's any good.

I agree that today would seem to be the perfect time to try him out, but I'm not going to start having a go at team selections before they've even been made.

Anyway, you wanted a decent reason why he may not have featured so far... blindas makes a perfectly good point below (which I inadvertantly plagiarised).
