On a similar note, I enjoyed the Novel of Black Hawk Down.

Took my by surprise a bit, was a hell of a lot more 'real' than I expected it to be.

For me the book really convayed the farce of the whole situation, the frustration of those involved, with the way you can see what's coming, kind of expect somebody to save the day, but they don't.
And for no good reason other than piss poor organisation.
