Imagine that you are a lawyer of mature years who wishes to update his mobile technology. You are not really interested in the abilities of this device to play music. You would like it to be reasonably good for games so that your children can borrow it on dull journeys. You want it to use as a phone, and as a camera, and to pick up email, and do some not very heavy net surfing (cricket/footy scores mainly, your eyesight isn't up to reading the Guardian online on a screen the size of a matchbox).

Do you get a Blackberry, or an Iphone, or the Google Android jobby? Or are your requirements so primitive and basic that any of them will be fine?
