Here, for example, is 5 hrs drive from the Pyrenees, a day from the Alps, 7 hrs from Calais but 45 mins from an airport that Ryanair serve.

2 1/2 hrs from the Atlantic coast, etc etc. Obviously the nearer the south coast you are, the more expensive it is.
