Yesterday

Just back from my hols and have deliberately been out of the loop for a couple of weeks.

Got back on Friday and was pleased to see that we had signed Marney o loan. Did have a few concerns when I found out Charlton would be playing centre midfield due to injuries to Safri and Jarrett.

The one player we missed yesterday was Francis - genine box to box goal scoring midfielder. Even with Safri and Jarrett fit, we cannot expect much from that department this season so Ashton, Hucks and Leon will have to get a shed load.

I don't see us getting the full ?2.25m for the Francis deal so it is a bit of bad business for the club but I am not going to say anymore on the subject. He is someone else's problem now.

Yesterday, Doc gave too many free kicks away and we were lucky that Cov didn't score from one of them. Charlton was too lightweight and alongsside Hughes there was no creativity. Our workrate was at least 10% below Cov's which was the main difference between the sides. There was too much reliance on knocking long balls up to Ashton.

Early days but the writing is on the wall so Worthy take note. Crewe will be no easier if we don't keep the ball on the floor a bit more.
