I remember the fire in 1996

Eurostar had to do an evacuation test run a couple of weeks after it had happened before it could be reopened and I went on it.

We were taken from Waterloo into the Channel Tunnel (I think it was about half way between Britain and France) and we had to get off the train, walk up the tunnel to an entrance which led into the service tunnel, walk about a kilometre in the service tunnel, into the other running tunnel and board a car-shuttle train which took us to Cheriton. We then got transfered by coach from there to Ashford and went back to London.

I got a ride in the cab on the way back from Ashford to London too!
