I heard that the Turners had begun implementing a fairly tough cost-cutting exercise within the club, streamlining the day to day running and looking at where savings could be made. Not big useful savings, but small petty bits and pieces, cheaper T Bags, getting rid of free coffee machines and the like... This also dove tailed into sacking off a load of lower echelon staff, which in turn (no pun intended) led to a lot of staff disgruntlement.
I suspect that there may have been a bit of a staff revolt and that there may have been a few ultimatums issued. The club, for all it's faults, does seem to value the "Family Atmosphere" amongst employees... I think that the Turners position may have become untenable due to their universal dislike amongst the clubs general staff.
Just a thought.
