I totally agree, its a shambles

Its all down to the window.
Before the window the top clubs had the squads they needed, bit of cover not much else.
(also before the real prem cash cow they could not afford these sizes).
If players A and B got injured within a week of each other in september, they'd got and buy a replacement.

These days, if that happened the club has to make do through till Jan pretty much.
Clubs can't afford to take that risk, so their squads are bigger just in case.
Means more players sitting around in top clubs reserves, players that 6/7 years ago they would have been happy to sell.

Also, in days gone by a, say, spurs reserve would probably be earning 10-20% more than a city first teamer. That's a gapyou can maybe bridge with bonuses and the lure of first team football.

THese days that's likely to be 100-300%.
We can no longer afford to bring these guys in on 2/3 year deals.
Offering them a game every week ain't enough to cover that.
Lets be fair here, how many of us would fancy that sort of pay cut, when we have a nice cushy job of about 5 hours a day during the week, with weekends off?
