It's not really the loan system that's the problem here (it's always existed); it's that the transfer market is so inflated because of the vast amounts of Sky (and owners with dodgy histories) money that is washing around the Prem. Football has now changed for ever, I think, and we (like most of the other clubs outside the top 10 in the Prem) are destined to be also-rans with maybe the occasional shot at the big time if we play the loan market cleverly and get a big slice of luck.
