Looks like you have plenty of RAM and a plenty fast enough CPU as Flight sim X seems to be quite an old game.
You do however appear to be using on board Graphics. ie. you aren't using a graphics card (most likely because you don't have one.) You need to install a direct x 9 compatible card with at least 128mb of RAM and all will be ok.
Next thing you need to do is find out what type of card you need to get. There will be two choices. AGP or PCI Express. Do you have any idea which you may need?
One way to tell is open the side of the computer case so you can see the mother board. You will have somewhere between 3-5 white expansion slots where you might put a Sound card or a USB card or something these are the PCI slots just above this there is the graphics card slot. If it's brown it's AGP if it's another colour it's PCI express. The other way is to find the instructions that came with the PC and look it up.
You can pick a graphics card up capable of playing that for less than 30 squids.
As for the wrong colours on the Sims 2. I don't know could be a compatability issue with the game and the graphics chip set and a similar upgrade may be required.
