He describes as a "small fib":
"After the Bundesliga, the Premier League and La Liga, it is frequently claimed, more people watch the Championship than Serie A, Ligue 1, the Eredivisie and all the other European leagues."
but then goes on to say that in terms of aggregate attendance the Championship is indeed fourth. So the "small fib" is,er, true. Doesn't matter what the average attendance is that's more people paying to attend, and then buying pies, programmes etc. If the Football League are bright enough to give the punters more opportunities to part with their cash than the continentals then isn't that a good thing?
