Ang on, ang on, ang on. Aren't we getting a bit precious in here?

Gentlemen (and ladies if any have been involved):

Could we all make an effort to avoid shouting "Racist!!" quite so quickly please? Otherwise the board may become very much less pleasant to visit.

I don't know Ben, or Alan, or Harry Boulders so I can't say for certain if any or all of them are or aren't racist in private - but in all cases I doubt it, because I know racists and have even been moved to forgive one of those.

These three, though: one was perhaps guilty of a clumsy remark while another made a simple joke. It may have been better if he hadn't, in a public place - but I for one feel a little encouraged that he felt relaxed enough to do so. It was a tease, that's all, and was probably aimed as much at the cops as at black youth. And I'm old enough to remember what properly racist gags sound like. It wasn't anything like that.

May I suggest that we all drop the issue without further debate? Otherwise the board will change for the worse, with denunciations and counter allegations all over the shop. This is not the place. Of course, if someone comes on here shouting 'Nigger' in capitals, as is quite popular in Usenet, I'll be among the first to complain. Promise.

As for banning PK, I think that was a bit rough too. What were the grounds? Let me guess. He's a bit annoying: so am I, I bet, to many, and so are many others to me. He was a bit repetitive: f**kaduck, that's a bit rich. He stood his ground: personally I think that's a good thing. It's a shame he didn't make better reading when doing so.
