Slightly concerned after today but there are "some" good points.
After the SPurs Friendly I was convinced we were in for a good season as I put our poor 2nd half down to losing Bertrand and Pattison having to slot in at LB. We played some good stuff in that first half and if reports of Cov were anthing to go by we carried this on.
However, today was disjointed, there is no denying this. Pattison is not a footballer but of course he put his heart and soul into the game as he always does, cannot fault him for that.
Stef and Kennedy look top class, Clingan is assured in the holding midfield role. We desperatly need the "big man" up front but that is obvious to anyone.
What chanhed our play today was in part Russell coming on to add a bit of beef upfront but this is clearly not the answer. He can do a job upfront coming on the help out but cannot rely on this. What really did it for me was Wes moving to the middle of the pitch. He was quiet on the left and looked nervous playing his first home game against his former team mates who knew his style too well. We really need Clingan holding and Hoolahan making the play from the middle of the pitch.
So on top of the big man we also need a left sided midfielder. Bertrand maybe? Drury when fit back in the lineup.
Not too disheatened, can see some kinda semblance of a team, just need time to gel. After all half of the matchday squad today are new to the club......stick with them.
