In 1986, Hearts lost the Scottish title in the final 10 minutes of the season at Dundee. And 15 years on, we still couldn't win there for love nor money, with the nadir being a virtual pub team taking all 12 points off us in 98/9. I assume that at some point, players do mentally begin to assume that they just can't win at certain venues - equally though, this CAN be broken through with the right attitude. Look at the Red Sox in 2004, for example.
I mean, never mind Cov - Man City were crap between the mid-70s and late 90s, and our record there beggared belief! I can't believe they'd have had anything like as much success against anyone else in that time - and even when we finally got the monkey off our back, it was against statistically the worst Citeh side in history, who were relegated to the old Third Division. It's hard to understand these things - unless fate really does play a part somewhere, I s'pose.
