I totally understand that, and that's why I'm saying

it's ok to like both for whatever reason

My main point is the grief thrown at Ashton, when largely after a while, you'd have thought he was the one with the long list of high profile spats, off field troubles and general bad reputation

The vitriol to Ashton largely at time, is based on made up rumours, rather than actual facts
