you're right.
Originally I went to Mexico in order to learn Spanish, but loved it so much I decided to stay.
Things happened after a while and I ended up down here. But I really prefer Mexico. The people are really friendly and its a very cool place in so many ways.
If you want a real off the wall experience you'd do well to go there. Down in SA its a lot more European in many countries. Especially Argentina and Chile.
I didn't know any Spanish at all when I went, but I picked it up pretty quickly - in a couple of months I was speaking pretty well - by force I should add, because I didn't know any English speakers.
You should be able to find work pretty easily, more so if you speak decent Spanish of course.
If you're up for teaching English, then you can earn fairly well doing private classes and its a good way of meeting people of course.
Plenty of other stuff you can do though. There's always a need for English speakers
