(i'm sure on my Irish passport it states that i am an Irish citizen despite me living in the UK, is the same not true for a British Passport holder living abroad?)

if you regularly come back it could well be worth you having an account with some sterling stashed away in it, (maybe attached to some instant access savings account) put any spare sterling you haven't spent at the end of your stay in it that way you can still earn interest on it but have it available when you next come home

for other people, while they may live abroad may still do work in the UK and so they have a UK bank account that that money gets paid into
