until recently you could only buy one flavour and one size - family bag of ready salted.

Lays/walkers got into the market and do a decent barbecue flavour, mustard flavour and some other ones, but not much variety apart from that. People in france don't snack - the only times they eat crisps are as an aperitif or maybe with a roast chicken like we eat roast potatoes (they actually warm the crisps up in the oven).

the one crispy type of thing that is very popular is Curlys - like wotsits but PEANUT flavour. incredibly moreish.
