so it is either because he has not understood what has been communicated to him which is either because it was done badly, incorrectly or he is a bit dense
or the company has acted in contravention of UK employment law and it really doesn't matter what the f**k they have put in their employee handbook if it is against the law they are f**ked. I am not familiar with UK employment law btw.
