Yes, if his head's right, he'll be a huge asset. I wonder whether all the shennanigans has opened his eyes and he wonders whether he'd be better off where he already is.

It will be tough if he does stay, but will also demonstrate the character of the man, that he's prepared to swallow his pride and fight for his place. Whether that's a popular decision with some of his team-mates is a different matter entirely, and remains to be seen.
