I'd like to camp in the middle of nowhere, that would be the solution. But it's not always legal, and you need facilities at times. I drank a litre of river water once when camping, and had the most monumental week of vomiting and diarrhoea. Not pleasant when the campsite's toilets were of the hole in the ground variety...
