You need the cd for the mass storage mode. It downloads about 8 usb drivers, and will only work when all 8 are installed

If you've messed it up, then you need to go to control panel, system, device manager and sort out the yellow question marks in the usb bit (if there are any, ie update them, or delete them to start again. Careful to know what they are or you'll be finding another device not working too :s)
