From the examples you've given:

Maximising non-matchday income to generate funds. Providing the players with top-class facilities so that they want to be here and can train and perform to the best of their abilities. Providing a great match-day experience for home and away fans to get bums on seats and generate more cash for players.

Unfortunately this isn't enough to match the expectations of some fans, who expect million-pound transfers every window and a guaranteed play-off spot or promotion every year.
