We've tried .NET and found it to be pretty s**t...

I haven't used it myself but I'd imagine you'd be able to learn it yourself using a book and a .NET server to play with.

I'm not a Linux fan but it's so much easier to use a Linux/Apache system with PHP and MySQL for web applications.
