Purely from a football point of view, most of the games were crap.

England v Ireland is generally held to be the worst World Cup match ever played, England v Cameroon was more an amusing series of cock-ups than anything else (especially those ridiculous penalties), Germany v Holland was a really unpleasant match (and the Dutch were a massive let-down), Italy were incredibly dull (as always) - the only classic game was England v West Germany IMO. Irish games were nothing to write home about.

And the final was horrible.

Mexico 86 though - France, Brazil, Denmark, Spain, Belgium, the USSR, Argentina, England and West Germany all played some quality football. And the final was brilliant.
