I sorta taught one of those.

"You boy, there, what's your name?"
"Goo"
"What?"
"Goo!"
Mr sheffieldcanary attends to register and sees no such name.
"Spell it for me please?"
"G. O. O."
"Oh you mean Guy!"
"It's pronounced Goo!"
Mr sheffieldcanary's brow furrows for some time and lets it go, which was lucky as his rather stupid mother upon seeing a lovely name did think that is how it was pronounced and therefore that is his name and woe-betide anyone who tries to say it differently(correctly). Goo... spelt Guy. Insane.
