I fear that if it goes on too long and GR doesn't get the players he wants it could all turn nasty.

A second theory could be that Smith and Jones have another source of investment lined up (Delia's wait and see comments at the RNS), one more preferable for them (but not so much money) so cullum is forcing the club's hand.
