IF he is being signed to be our primary goalscorer then it is wrong. If he is being signed to be our primary target man then it is wrong.
However, if (as I suspect) he is being signed as a player who will start some games and sit out others depending on what Roeder's game plan is, but more importantly someone who is full of experience and can calm the team down or raise their spirits in a similar way to Dublin, while having the experience to come on with 10 minutes to go, hold the ball up to finish off a game, or get himself in the right places to nick an equaliser or winner, then it could well be a great signing.
But only if we also sign a decent centre-forward AND a 90-minutes-a-game, 50-games-a-season goal-scorer to challenge for Cureton's place.
Personally I think Cole could bring us as much or even somewhat more than Dublin did up front when needed, but obviously he's not going to help in defence as Dion could, and finally I don't think he has the same intelligence or influence as Dion.
One last thing to think about - perhaps Roeder is looking at him playing either just behind the strikers, or even converting him to midfield a la Dwight Yorke ?
Cole has always been decent in his sense of space and passing.
