I am talking about the first parachute payment which comes at the end of this season. Don't forget City would probably have budgeted to finish bottom of the Prem so by finishing second from bottom got a 'bonus' ?0.5M. With the ?1M unbudgetted surplus on commercial activity etc I wouldn't be at all surprised if City were able to cover the Ashton fee without actually having to touch any of the parachute payment.
