Board resigns over new stand

As I recollect there were 2 tenders for the new Main Stand - R. G. Carter (which won the bid) and May Gurney which was the preferred choice of Chase and Jones. Carter's was the cheaper option initially, but the May Gurney one would have been cheaper overall once the second tier was added. Since there is still no top tier it appears that the majority decision was right.

I'm not sure actually why the board resigned, a procedural issue I think - it may have been because Sir Arthur voted (may even have had the casting vote) and also had close family connections with R. G. Carter.
