Wouldn't surprise me at all if what Roeder's saying to clubs/players differs significantly from what Roeder's saying to newspapers.

"Now, then, Player X, I don't want other clubs getting wind of who we're after, so I'm going to go to the papers and say we're no interested in signing you, but ignore that, 'cos you're my #1 man." .... "No, Mr Reporter, we're not signing him, nothing in that one, no interest at all."
