referring to the overall crime levels in UK and no not as reported in the Daily Mail. When I said "He'd have to have been in a coma" I meant to have not been aware of it. Just because an individual has not personally experienced any serious crime, doesn't mean it isn't happening. Police forces all over the country have changed the way they report crime in order to meet government set statistical targets. Allocate a ridiculously large part of their resources to soft targets (motorists for one and I'll predict landlords not enforcing the no smoking ban in pubs) I'm afraid, IMHO, it's all getting rather shambolic.
And, given the rather precarious economic situation in the country, it's more likely to get worse rather than better.
