nowhere near as good as it was 10 years ago, but is far better than the UK's. Our advantage is 1) that our country is smaller so distances are far shorter, 2) that because of that we are all so used to commuting that very few people consider themselves too good for the train, 3) again, because of that the process of getting a train or tram is far more efficient and 4) that our train network is newer, and therefore we have more capacity on the line than the UK has.
Also, the tram lines are all existing ones - when they do build new ones ("sneltrams" which are like a hybrid train-tram I guess like the Docklands light railway) they take just as long and involve just as much controversy as in any other country.
