Anyone who thinks that the latter example accurately reflects being a 'true fan'

is lucky that they have nothing better in life to worry about. If realising that's there's far more to life, and far more important things in life, than a bloody football club makes me a 'plastic fan' that actually started supporting in the 1970s, so be it.

Haven't got the time, patience or inclination to go down this particular argument again.
