Could I just say, Holden, while you're here, that I have never "got" the book in which you

star. However hard I try, however much I tell myself that it's beyond classic, that it's a crucial cultural reference point, that millions love it ... I can't enjoy it. Sorry. I'm sure the fault is with me. Good luck at the new school, but if it doesn't go well, please don't write another book.
