I live in Rhyl, and work in Chester. Number of Chelsea fans I knew five years ago: none. Number I know now: seven. Number of those seven who say they've been fans for years, ooh, Ozzie, Charlie Cooke, remember 'em well etc: five.
I ask every one of them the same question and have passed that question on to everyone else who's dismayed that they've discovered a cache of Chelsea fans: Which Chelsea manager sacked which Chelsea goalkeeper after a 3-2 defeat to Norwich? And I always point out that I mean SACKED and not just dropped, and remind them that that's extremely memorable.
Number of lifelong Chelsea fans who've been able to answer the question even when asked a second time (not immediately, obviously): NONE.
it wouldn't be so bad if they were grateful for their good fortune (see what I did there etc) - but most of them are surly and maintain that Chels have always been a huge club etc.
i can't want them to win anything. That probably says as much about me as it does them, I guess, but whogizza?
AND United are SO much better to watch.
