Yes we had some chances, but it was, effectively, a 3.5 day test with losing the full saturday, and bits and pieces on the thursday and friday.
Last time i remember england winning that quick was agaisnt the windies was it not? At which time all and sundry were bemoaning the ease of victory and that the series would be no challenge as the windes were so poor.
So how is failing to beat a much better NZ side in the same time scale a failure?
England needed to excellent days to win this, and ended up with 2 decent days.
