our 'star' player

most famous and most exciting, yes.

Unfortunately, also our highest paid player who has had about 5 or 6 good games all season and forces us to play with a stupid formation. Our best spell this season came when he wasn't palying much.

The question is do we want a pretty sh*t team with an exciting but not hugely effective player, or a stronger all-round team better equipped to do well in this division. It is sad that it comes down to such a decision but I fear in this case it does.

Hucks has become a bit bigger than the team and we have pandered to him a bit, shaping the team to suit what he likes. With the result that he looks quite good and we as a team don't.

A 3 man midfield is not the way to go, and Hucks has forced us into that for too long.

I'm not at all sure about the manner of his leaving, but have no problem with it as a purely footballing decision.

Hucks will always be a legend - his 2003/4 performance alone earns it - but the club must always come first over individuals, particularly when financial conditions are so tough.
