I think pants, inarticulate as he may be, is espousing the theory that however good a player Eanie was, it was pointless signing him into a squad as poor as ours; rather like buying a diamond to adorn a collection of dog turds. Instead of buying Earnie we should have bought some decent midfielders and defenders.
