Hucks had more around him, plus we followed him up with 2 other loans, then 2 other signings.
Earnie came in when we were on a downward trend after losing Ashton, with bigger gaps in the squad following poor signigns after relegation.
We could of used that cash to get a decent CB and a decent CM.
Build for the future.
Instead we spent all on 1 striker.
He did enough to keep us up, but couldn't have the allround impact of a hucks.
Hucks rarely scored THAT many, what he did was put opposition teams on defensive with his running. He ofrced teams to double up on him, giving more space elsewhere.
You don't do that on earnie, teams rarely double on him, just be aware of where he is.
As his service was so limited, it limited the threat he posed.
Hucks needed little service back then, ball anywhere to him and teams were backing off.
