I've always been of the opinion that the second world war was morally justifiable, but having read an awful lot about it, I think that my view might be correct with the benefit of hindsight.
What I mean is that I do not believe that those who were fighting at the time had any great moral stance, knew little or nothing about (for example) Germany's treatment of the Jews/gypsies/homosexuals etc, and that they were simply people doing their job.
I'm pretty sure that they were doing it with a fair degree of partiotism, but I don not beleive they knew the full horrors (ie what they were fighting against) at the time.
Phew. Time for a lie down.
