Great turn out and a good atmosphere, for the first half at least.
City should have buried them in the first twenty minutes. We passed it around very well and Russell was everywhere. Their centre backs looked very suspect, and their right back looked to be playing in that position on for the first time in his career. We pissed away a mass of good opportunities.
Shocking decision for the pen. Even if it was a foul (which it didn’t look like to me) it started three yards outside the box, and there was even a long divot to give ref Mark Twattenburg a clue. And the linesman bottled it as well, if anyone was in a position to see where the incident started it was the idiot with the flag, but it remained firmly wedged up his arse with no danger of coming out.
Matty Pattison is starting to remind more and more of Andy Hughes with each passing game. We saw the full array of first touches where the ball end up a couple of yards away and a great range of misplaced passes, and yesterday he also squandered two great chances, the first of which would have put us two up and the second would have given us the lead. But he does tackle and cover well and at least he doesn’t kiss the badge or clap.
No idea why Semi got tugged for Pearce, and the Doc got moved to RB - we looked very shaky at the back after that.
Great reception from all four sides of the ground for Dion, thanks to the Wednesday fans for giving him a proper send off.
Far too much hoofing in the second half.
Hucks didn’t look like a man who had played his last game for City when he came over to the crowd after the game although as he stood on the edge of the box, and started to (very slowly) take the ties off his socks, I started to have my doubts.
Left for the game at 8.15am. Got back at 10:30pm. Lager consumption was nearer two gallons that one. Despite the result a good day out.
