Where Boris actually ended up, once it was pointed out to him that he couldn't reintroduce routemasters for any number of reasons, was that he will "run a new competition to find a 21st century Routemaster".

So when you started this by saying "Routemaster's are the dig's" - well maybe, but we're not going back to them. It was just headline grabbing.
