a Mclaren - Mercedes SLR rolled six times at 200mph and the driver got out with a bruised arm, and that's a road car.
When they decided to make a cabriolet version they thought they would have to make the monocoque stronger, so they took a standard saloon version and cut the roof off it. When they did the crash test the results were exactly the same.
It would have to be a hell of an accident for a driver to be killed these days, only way I could see it happening would be one car wheel landing on the cockpit of another.
Plus the safety on the tracks is so much better hence the tyre walls.
