Stoke could seal promotion to the Premier League on Saturday, while Sheffield Wednesday are battling for their Championship lives at Leicester.
Three points for Stoke when they visit Colchester, coupled with a draw or a defeat for third-placed Hull at home to Crystal Palace, would see Tony Pulis' Potters secure a place in the top-flight next season.
Hull, though, could gatecrash the automatic promotion places should they record a victory against Palace and Stoke slip up, while a draw would be enough to guarantee Phil Brown's side a place in the play-offs.
At the other end of the table, Sheffield Wednesday are the last remaining team in the relegation places who have yet to be doomed to League One.
Wednesday sit in 22nd position with two games to play and would be pushed closer to the drop if they lose to Leicester and Southampton defeat West Brom, who themselves will be promoted without kicking a ball if Hull and Bristol City slip up, on Monday.
But the Owls are one point from safety and will hope to boost their survival hopes at the Walkers Stadium.
Bristol City could also guarantee a top six finish if they if they can pick up a victory at Sheffield United, who harbour faint hopes of a late spot in the play-offs.
Wolves currently occupy seventh place in the table and Mick McCarthy's men could climb to fifth if they defeat relegation-threatened Coventry, but they would need to win by a four-goal margin and would also rely on Watford slipping up against already relegated Scunthorpe.
Charlton's plans of an immediate return to England's top tier are already over but they will hope to finish strongly away to Barnsley, who could still be relegated.
Burnley and FA cup finalists Cardiff will wrestle for mid-table pride at Turf Moor, while Preston travel to promotion hopefuls Ipswich.
Norwich are not yet guaranteed to avoid the drop as they prepare to host QPR, while fellow strugglers Blackpool visit Plymouth.
