No Complaints

Sounds like we were well beaten today and in the spirit of being thankful for small mercies, we were lucky not to get hammered.

Haynes once again proved to be our nemesis and seems to bear a particular grudge against us. Am I right in thinking he was once on our books? That point leads me onto another. As the season draws to a close, there has been a lot of speculation on the huge job Roeder has of rebuilding the squad. Without the loanees this club would be staring relegation in the face and unless we manage a few more points from our remaining matches, we still might.

Roeder certainly has his work cut out but I think he has another job on his hands - the woefully under performing Academy. When you see what Ipswich have produced over the years and what Warnock has done this season playing a lot of youngsters, it brings into sharp focus the lack of youngsters coming through our system. The likes of the Jarvis brothers, Spillane and Martin have all been tried and found wanting.

As with most things there is more than one reason for this. We all know that the travelling rule does us no favours and I daresay the coaching could probably do with a shake up as well.

I have said before that we should pull out of the Academy system and use the money saved to set up a decent scouting network to source youngsters from where we please. The Academy can be replaced by a youth system based on the one that produced the likes of Eadie, Foxy and Bellamy. For that to happen it will take someone at the top end of the Carrow Road set up to make the big decision.
