Am a bit bored. So just sent this email to football league.

Will let you know what, if any, reply I receive...

"Dear sir / madam

A quick question about which clarification would be very useful.

At Norwich City we have had 7 loanees in our squad for much of this season. We have in every game fielded only five in our match squad of sixteen, on the understanding that this was the league rule.

I understand that Sheffield Wednesday are to be fined for fielding six loanees in their league game vs Stoke, in which they fielded 2 loanees in the starting XI, and 4 on the bench. (From these four loanee subs they were able to, and did, choose a player to bring on.)

Therefore they will keep the point they gained in that game.

Could you confirm that, should we need the points enough, and should we feel able and willing to pay the fine that will be due, we can from now on choose to field six loanees in our playing squad of sixteen?

This will be useful in terms of my club's planning for the rest of this season, and indeed for decisions on player recruitment for next season.

Thanks in advance

Gareth Ramsay
