but Czech beer is brewed to the same purity law standards as German beer and is generally better in my opinion.
Anyway, the Czech Republic is generally a very nice place too - we went to Prague (if you've never been, go), Brno (not the prettiest place, but gorgeous women), Bratislava in Slovakia (lovely old town, sadly full of Brits on stag dos; but worth checking out), Kutna Hora a few hours from Prague (UNESCO protected small town with a huge, dramatic, Gothic cathedral) and Cesky Krumlov (medieval town - managed to get there too late to see the castle). We didn't manage to get to Ceske Budejovice (where proper Budweiser is from) though.
Easy to get round by train (grumpy staff at Prague main station notwithstanding) and fairly easy to find cheap accomodation.
